At first glance this mosaic appears to show the simple concept of moving from dark to light. I used this graduation of tone and colour to explore the unique qualities of the glass – opaque, mirrored or opalised.

Depending on the time of day and quality of light the effect is different. On a summers morning the position of the sun captures the textures, mid afternoon the colours and evening light intensifies the colours casting a rich gold. Due to the play of light across its surface the mosaic is in a continual state of change.
